Core banking is very different from branch automation. The skills and knowhow derived from branch automation are not sufficient for selecting and implementing core banking. The technology evaluation parameters pertaining to wide area networks, centralized databases and 24x7 operations cannot be extrapolated from traditional branch automation. Banking Frontiers had organized this two-day conference to enable banks that are planning to move to core banking to understand all the critical issues starting from RFP preparation and consultant selection to successful implementation and usage.
The event was well attended by most of the large banks, as well as small and mid size banks having anywhere from 20 to 200 branches. Larger banks from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, South East Asia and Middle East also participated.
The 100 plus participants comprised chairmen, directors, CEOs, GMs, IT Heads, functional heads, data center heads, etc. of mid size banks. The exhibitors who were mainly IT vendors showcased their products and services during the event. |
