As new banking systems such as RTGS, cheque truncation, bill payment, ATM sharing, etc., came into being, payment solutions became a field of intense competition in the banking domain. This two-day conference provided bankers with a deep understanding of the technical and business issues, enabling them to choose the right solutions and solution providers.

Banks are expected to spend millions of rupees in implementing RTGS alone. Around 120 banks were believed to go live on RTGS in the first phase. Banks would be spending equally large sums of money on cheque truncation. As for cards, ATM, payment gateways, these would require ongoing investments by banks. Payment Tech 2004 provided an excellent opportunity for IT companies to interact with the concerned bankers and promote their solutions and services.

Senior decision makers of medium and large size banks, particularly officials who were  responsible for ATMs, cards, cheque processing, RTGS, SWIFT, reconciliation, cash management, etc attended the event. Nearly 150+ senior bankers participated actively.
